FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Programs

I do not want to talk about my marriage with other people, will I have to share with other people at the Hold me Tight workshop?

We understand the need for privacy. Although all couples are welcome to enter into a discussion with the group, most conversation occurs place privately between partners. Couples who do not want to talk about their relationship with the group are not expected to do so, and we absolutely respect this. Confidentiality is important to us and we go over this at the start of the workshop.

My boyfriend and I are not married are your programs suitable for us?

Yes! This program is designed for all couples who have a desire to strengthen communication and connection. We welcome those in new relationships, those who have been married for decades or longer, and everything in between. New couples often remind the group of the passion and joy that comes with early love. Seasoned couples tend to share stories of resilience.

My husband and I have a happy marriage, but we lost the sexual spark we once had, are your programs suitable for us?

Yes! It is fantastic that you have a healthy and happy relationship and a solid foundation. The concepts in this workshop will guide you to deepen your bond even more and can renew sexual excitement and spark!

My wife and I are on the verge of separation. Can your programs help couples in distress?

The Hold me Tight workshop provides the time and space for all couples to renew and restore their relationship. However, we recommend that couples who are heading toward separation or divorce schedule an appointment with a Marriage and Family Therapist who is trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. You are welcome to work with Cristina Trette privately or we can offer you a list of referrals in your area.

My partner and I have agreed to consensual non-monogomy. Will our choices be honored?

Yes! We welcome all couples that are committed to their relationship in the way that they define.

Are your programs associated with any particular religion or spiritual practice?

No. We are not associated with any particular religion. We respect each individual's religion and spiritual practice. We teach tools, such as breathwork and visualization, to support participants with lowering stress and being more responsive in relationships.

Can you tell me more about Hold Me Tight?

The Hold me Tight Couples Workshop was developed by Dr. Sue Johnson and is based on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and her book, "Hold me Tight, Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love". Hold Me Tight® is a registered trademark to Sue Johnson. Emotionally Focused Therapy is based on research and has been empirically validated to improve relationship satisfaction in 70 to 90 percent of couples.

The workshop is generally two full days, or eight weeks, of education, demonstrations, guided and private conversations that take place between couples. The program is facilitated and couples are given time to work together at their own pace. The focus is on supporting couples to develop connection, intimacy, and communication.

What will I learn? How will the Hold me Tight program benefit my marriage?
